How does the Outdoors affect your wellbeing?
Women in Adventure need your help! They have launched a new survey which looks to establish if there is a positive association between the outdoors and mental wellbeing.
Women in Adventure is an independent research project whose key focus is to empower women through the sharing of information, inspiration and advice. Launched on International Women’s Day, 8th March 2016 Women in Adventure was cofounded by Hetty Key and Outdoorista founder Anna Paxton. The first phase of the project to carry out a survey to identify important issues, barriers to participation and sources of inspiration for women in adventure. The results of the 2016 survey can be viewed here.
Following on from this Hetty and Anna were keen to take action on their findings. Anna, inspired by the stories that unfolded during the survey launched Outdoorista. While Hetty, keen to carry out more research, continued to manage Women in Adventure.
This year Hetty has been joined by Dr. Ruth Farrar, Senior Lecturer in Creative Media at Bath Spa University and founder of Shextreme. They have partnered with a number of industry experts to ensure their results have maximum impact. Outdoorista will use the survey's findings to inform our story choices - to tell untold stories, broadening the diversity of women featured in outdoor film and media.
